Tom Barthel
Strategic Partner – Tom Barthel joined Battle Group as a Strategic Partner in 2017. In this role, Tom supports operational improvement and value creation activities across our partner companies, including the development and execution of strategic planning efforts, mentoring of executive personnel, and contributing to continuous improvement and acquisition integration activities.
Tom retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation (www.lockheedmartin.com) in 2016 after a 30+ year career in various leadership positions, including:
- Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Missiles & Fire Control Business Unit – a multi-billion dollar business that designs and manufactures air and missile defense systems (PAC-3, THAAD), tactical missile systems (MLRS, Hellfire, JASSM, Javelin), fire control systems, and other engineered products and services supporting military customers and the civil nuclear power industry.
- Vice President of Business Operations for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics – a multi-billion dollar division that produces the F-35, C-130, F-16, F-22, and C-5 aircraft for military customers and government agencies.
From 2011-2014, Tom also served as Chief Financial Officer of North American Rescue (www.narescue.com), a provider of innovative casualty care solutions to military, first responders, and health care professionals worldwide. He started his career in Honeywell International’s management training program.
Tom earned a BA degree from the University of South Florida and an MBA degree from the Florida Institute of Technology. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, the 10th largest US public school system with over 200,000 students, 13,000 teachers, and 188 schools. Tom is also a guest lecturer at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida.
